Durante la reciente celebraci\u00f3n de la Feria Internacional de Defensa y Seguridad (Feindef 2025) en Madrid, SAES (Sociedad An\u00f3nima de Electr\u00f3nica Submarina) destac\u00f3 con fuerza, consolidando su posici\u00f3n como l\u00edder en innovaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica enfocada tanto en el \u00e1mbito de defensa como el de seguridad y protecci\u00f3n mar\u00edtima.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Among the fair\u2019s headline announcements were strategic agreements with SAES\u2019s shareholders: Navantia, Thales and Indra. The agreement signed with Indra<\/a> is a strategic move to develop cutting-edge technologies to protect ports, sea lanes, and critical energy and communications infrastructure. It not only reinforces Indra and SAES\u2019s commitment to technological innovation, but also underscores their intention to align with the Spanish Navy\u2019s strategic objectives for 2050.<\/p>\n\n

SAES CEO Javier M\u00e1rmol said: \u2018We are confident this alliance will not only enhance our capacity for innovation, but also consolidate our leadership in the technology sector. Integrating our advanced technologies with Indra\u2019s expertise places us in a strong strategic position to tackle future challenges and meet the Spanish Navy\u2019s ambitious objectives. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to excellence and to delivering solutions that guarantee the security and sustainable development of our critical infrastructure.\u2019<\/p>\n\n

SAES and Thales<\/a> confirmed the integration of Thales\u2019s advanced Sonoflash sonobuoy into SAES\u2019s Sonobuoy Acoustic Processing System (SPAS), installed on Airbus C295 aircraft. The cooperation, initiated in 2021, now comes to fruition, strengthening SPAS\u2019s competitiveness in anti-submarine warfare and maritime surveillance.<\/p>\n\n

SAES also unveiled its forthcoming Centre of Excellence in Underwater Technologies<\/a> (CETSUB), which will bolster innovation and collaboration across both military and civilian domains. The centre will act as an engine for research in underwater acoustics and artificial intelligence, promoting sustainability and attracting talent to the tech industry. Navantia highlighted CETSUB\u2019s strategic importance as part of its broader network of centres of excellence among its investee companies, emphasising its key role in the joint development of advanced technologies and its impact on the interoperability of shipborne systems.<\/p>\n\n

SAES further strengthened its position by signing an agreement with Aragon Photonics<\/a> to develop advanced maritime detection systems based on optical sensor technology. The collaboration aims to enhance the detection of threats and contacts in the marine environment, thereby improving infrastructure protection. Deploying optical technology in defence for threat detection and identification poses a significant technological challenge for both companies, while driving joint innovation.<\/p>\n\n

In the field of dual-use technology, SAES unveiled its innovative Ocean Sentinel system<\/a>, developed with Satlink, designed to reinforce maritime security. The system incorporates advanced acoustic processing, delivering effective solutions both for defence and for civilian applications. Ocean Sentinel consists of smart buoys equipped with hydrophones, enabling autonomous detection of underwater threats.<\/p>\n\n

The system offers significant civil applications, including the early identification of small migrant boats (pateras), helping to prevent loss of life close to shore, as well as the monitoring of drug-smuggling speedboats and other illicit activities in territorial waters.<\/p>\n\n

Ocean Sentinel\u2019s ability to integrate with other security systems, such as SAES\u2019s DDS diver detection sonar, further increases its utility in protecting critical infrastructure, including ports and energy facilities, reaffirming its versatility and effectiveness across multiple security contexts.<\/p>\n\n

At FEINDEF, SAES and the European Centre for Business and Innovation of Cartagena (CEEIC) signed a collaboration agreement<\/a> to advance artificial intelligence in the naval sector, supported by the Caetra project, an initiative of the Region of Murcia\u2019s Regional Development Institute (Instituto de Fomento) to foster and position the region\u2019s defence, security and dual-use industries. This strategic agreement will accelerate innovation in underwater technologies, energise the start-up ecosystem, and contribute to the Region\u2019s economic and technological development.<\/p>\n\n

Through these initiatives and strategic collaborations, SAES is not only strengthening its position in the international market, but also contributing to the economic and technological development of the Region of Murcia, where its headquarters are located. Its focus on dual-use technology reflects a growing industry trend, maximising the positive impact of its innovations across military, security and critical infrastructure protection.<\/p>\n\n
