The noise generated by the ships’ machinery and transmitted through its structure constitutes one of the main sources of noise radiated by ships. The estimation of radiated noise, and with it the control of underwater acoustic pollution generated by ships, can be carried out by applying a function that relates it to the measurement of the vibrations in the hull.
In this work the relationship between the vibration of the hull and the acoustic pressure radiated by it is presented, determining and analyzing the transfer function that relates them. In addition, methods of in situ measurement of this function are presented, as well as experimental measures carried out.
