SAES and the European Centre for Business and Innovation of Cartagena (CEEIC) have signed a collaborative agreement at the International Defence and Security Fair, FEINDEF, aimed at enhancing artificial intelligence within the naval sector. This strategic partnership will boost innovation in underwater technologies, foster the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and contribute to the region’s economic and technological development.
The signing ceremony took place today, Monday, 12th May, during the ‘SAES Day’ at FEINDEF. Sara García Ruiz, Chief Innovation, Strategy, and Sustainability Officer at SAES, remarked after the signing: “This agreement is a crucial step in our mission to advance underwater technology. Our expertise in these systems will allow us to jointly lead significant advancements in the naval sector.” Additionally, Nuria Castillo, Director of CEEIC, emphasised the significance of the agreement, stating, “The alliance between SAES and CEEIC is fundamental to strengthening our regional innovation ecosystem, generating new opportunities and economic growth for the region.”
The primary goal of the agreement is the joint exploration of initiatives focused on the AI accelerator applied to the naval sector, created by CEEIC. SAES, a leader in this field through its research and development programmes related to underwater detection (with both national and European funding), brings a wealth of experience in underwater technologies, crucial for the maritime sector’s competitiveness.
This initiative aims not only to enrich the region’s ecosystem of startups and Technology-Based Innovative Companies (EIBTs) but also to align with projects like CAETRA and the Jerónimo de Ayanz Underwater Technologies Chair, ensuring a continuous flow of innovation in Murcia.
