SAES takes part as a reference company in measurement and control of Ship Noise in the “Spanish Defence Technological Conference”.

The event, held in Madrid the 15th of June, has been chaired by the Defence Department in order to enforce the relation between the Spanish Naval Forces and the Industry.

During the meeting, several matters were discussed such as the future Spanish frigate F-110 and Naval weapons. SAES participated in the area dedicated to the “Ship Noise Reduction”, which is essential for the naval platforms.  SAES has explained some key issues based on its wide experience as well as the newest developments and solutions for measurement and control of ship signatures.

Measurement, control and reduction of the ship signature is strongly important to assess the ship security. SAES has explained that, besides the acoustic signature, which is widest known, the others influence that compose the signature must be considered. The multi-influence signature is composed by acoustic, electric, magnetic, seismic, pressure influence, and all together characterizes the ship unequivocally.

Accurate measuring of the ship signature is a mandatory requirement for signature reduction task. In order to achieve it, SAES has developed MIRS (Multi.Influence Range System). MIRS is  an advanced portable system which obtains the complete signature of a vessel. It can be used in varied scenarios as it is portable, and so can be deployed wherever necessary. For instance, MIRS can be used to as a discrete device to gather Underwater Signature Intelligence Information or as a tool to verify real-time ship-signature levels when vessels are leaving the base.

Besides the MIRS, SAES develops others systems to specifically measure the acoustic or the electrical signature. Also, the company provides tools and services for ship signature reduction by analysis, identification, modeling and prediction.

SAES has been in charge of the measurement and modeling of the electric signature of Spanish Minehunter and the acoustic and non-acoustic signatures of S-80 Spanish submarine.
